Dear Delta employee,
Let me start by cautioning you that writing to us using your delta.com email address is probably not wise. Employers are infamous for firing insiders who communicate with those they perceive as the 'enemy'. Close to a hundred of your colleagues have written to us (mostly notes of the 'I can't believe management is so stupid' variety) and most have wisely used their Yahoo or Hotmail accounts to do so.
You and your co-workers have visited this site 17,201 times over the past two days and downloaded a little over a third of a gigabyte of information: thank you.
Many of you have written to ask, 'Why Delta?'. Good question.
Beltway insiders tell us that there appear to be two reasons why Delta is testing the CAPPS II program. First, your airline is healthier than many others despite massive layoffs. The second reason guessed at by the same insiders is that your union is considered to be one of the weaker ones in the industry. "A stronger union never would have allowed this," was the comment made. Our personal guess as to why Delta ran to the front of the line to be first for fascism is as good as yours.
If you are wondering why we have chosen to fight CAPPS II by boycotting your employer, here are the reasons:
1. You can't fight City Hall/TSA;
2. Lockheed-Martin, the software supplier/contractor, produces no consumer
goods that we're aware of;
3. Delta is on its own testing this program;
4. The executive branch of government is VERY sensitive to corporate
pressure and industry concerns.
Applying market pressure to Delta is the best way to stop CAPPS II. A Delta boycott punishes them for collaborating as a tester, the only airline to do so, in CAPPS II. By making the test fail, we can (hopefully) kill off the entire program.
Our disagreement is obviously not with you but with your misguided management. We hope Leo Mullin comes to his senses and publicly ends any and all Delta participation in CAPPS II.
What can you do? Speak out. Tell management that cooperating in pointlessly invading passenger privacy may result in Delta going into Chapter 7 bankruptcy. It's not worth it.
Thank you for taking the time to visit. Feel free to write us privately at imadeltaemployee@boycottdelta.org. Remember, don't use your corporate email address.
Sincerely,
The Boycott Delta Team
